WHAT DOES THE 2022 SPRING/SUMMER SEASON HOLD FOR BAGS?

It isn’t only footwear on show at Expo Riva Schuh & Gardabags, but leather goods too. Softness is without a doubt top of the list for the forthcoming Spring/Summer 2022 season, with full, warm, typically summery shades erring towards pastels. And there will be no lack of natural materials, combined with leather, in keeping with the increasingly dominant sustainability theme. The world of belts offer an interesting, vaguely country look, with the application of used or distressed materials.

The collections displayed at Expo Riva Schuh & Gardabags offer a preview of the trends for Summer 2022 playing around with details, colours and shapes, offering a wide range of leather goods suitable for any occasion.

WOMAN

Shoppers are most definitely the must-have item for next summer, in leather, cord or raffia, in mesh, with a pouch, across the shoulder or with interwoven details. Fringes are back along with a strong folk-rock feel giving a decidedly bohemian look to a woman’s most desirable accessory.

Women’s accessory collections are based on classic designs, with a very feminine, charming silhouette. Carefully selected materials will create interesting hybrids, going from minimalist bags in the softest of leathers to square, satchel-style tote bags as well as the new bucket bags and playful, heart-shaped mini bags.

There will also be an array of natural materials, combined with leather, providing that increasingly important nod to sustainability. The world of belts offer an interesting, vaguely country look, with the application of used or distressed materials.

MAN

Male styles for the summer season also feature a wide selection of versatile materials and distinctive details, able to express a strong personality and well-defined tastes. Rising trends display an unusual mix of leather and technical fibres accompanied by interesting new high-performance solutions, inspired by the outdoor world. Functionality is top of the list too for shoulder bags with pockets for keys, credit cards and water bottles.

For daily use, the concept of the holdall is still popular, (useful for weekends away, too) and business bags with increasingly refined and sophisticated designs. The "modular design" trend is on the increase with interesting backpacks that can be transformed into standard bags and vice versa.

A genderless atmosphere hovers over everything, with the presence of crossbody models and refined, detailed bucket bags.

COLOURS

As for the colour palette, the latest preference is for energy-giving colours: orange, yellow and aquamarine are the stars of the new accessory collections, along with the ever popular colours such as black, beige and natural leather. These are accompanied  by reassuringly neutral and pastel shades such as butter, sage, pink and mauve, ideal for the more classically-inspired bags.
