In response to the growing demand for functionality and comfort, WGSN's trend analysts have identified five shoe silhouettes for Expo Riva Schuh that are set to dominate fashion in Autumn-Winter 2021-22.
How to tap into women's tastes for the coming winter season? The key to success is a versatile mix of workleisure items and outdoor styles to meet the new needs for functionality and comfort that have emerged from the pandemic, with a dual focus: on the 2-mile fashion trend and on sustainability. WGSN's trend analysts have translated these indications into five style proposals that are set to dominate the women's footwear fashion scene.
In response to the renewed enthusiasm for the outdoors, the Hiking Boot interprets its leisure and casualwear attitude with a more refined and formal tone, for solutions that are suitable for both the countryside and the city. Materials are outdoor proof and incorporate practicality and protection. Glossy leathers and sustainable covers are combined with outdoor metal accessories and sturdy soles, with chunky silhouettes. There are also padded details and textured linings.
After working remotely for several months, women find the Workleisure Mule a multifunctional solution for both work and leisure, without sacrificing home comforts. The Workleisure Mule also offers a refined style, defined by minimalistic, handcrafted details such as special cuts, sculptured heels, also in composite plastic with a marble or wood effect, or by imperfect or recycled metal accessories evocative of an industrial-luxe mood. And, to ensure comfort, they feature low-height structures and padded insoles.
The Hyper-Texture Slippers are also super comfortable and, although most definitely inspired by loungewear, they are ideal both indoors and outdoors. Absolutely flat, they are made of soft, enveloping materials such as teddy wool, fleece, sustainable long-haired fur, in both natural and recycled polyester versions. Details such as ties, and colored stones add a touch of glam.
The Heeled Loafer, on the other hand, is inspired by the Seventies. This evergreen classic has been reworked with square toes and its silhouette is characterized by high, sturdy heels. Canvas can be enhanced with eye-catching color blocks, straps, and clamps with an ironic appeal, also using recycled materials, leathers that focus on durability and come from sustainable sources, with glossy surfaces or modern snake effect prints.
The season finale is the Equestrian Boot: this too is a classic heritage boot that refreshes its silhouette with refined, high-quality materials, responding to the demand of female consumers for investment products. Based on minimalistic aesthetic, it relies on a few details to add character to its style: metal clamps, metal logo plates, logo prints. Featuring shiny leathers and formal finishes, it comes in natural colors and black.
