The relationship between South African organisations and institutions and Expo Riva Schuh is consolidated: the Consul General of South Africain Milan, Titi Nxumalo, has today visited the event in Riva del Garda, which hosted a collective of South African exhibitors, as well as SAFLEC - the South African Leather Export Council - for the first time, at this edition of the fair.
The Consul's visit took place at a meeting held in the Buyers' Lounge, Hall C4 at 14:30. Following a welcome by Roberto Pellegrini, chairman of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, the Consul, Titi Nxumalo, underlined the importance of SAFLEC in supporting South African businesses in their search for new markets. For South Africa, the leather and footwear sectors represent a key role, because they are able to guarantee workplaces in a sustainable activity, an aspect to which the African nation pays great attention. After a difficult period, South African footwear manufacturing has regained its growth, investments have increased and new production plants have opened. For companies, therefore, it is becoming increasingly important to find opportunities, such as Expo Riva Schuh, where they can display their products and broaden their commercial horizons.
The Consul General of India in Milan, Charanjeet Singh, also took part in the meeting, who was in agreement regarding the importance of working together with the event in Riva del Garda, and Mario Pucci, Manager for International Activities of Assomac, spoke about the role of technology in market development.
This meeting continues the initiative already begun with the Expo Riva Schuh Around The World project, created to present Expo Riva Schuh via ad hoc meetings, organised in the most promising and strategic markets of the world: the first leg of the tour which took place in April, was in South Africa.
