Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

From 11th to 14th June, the world of footwear will come together in Riva del Garda: the appointment is with Expo Riva Schuh, key international event for the volume footwear sector, which has reached its 86th edition. The very first opportunity to present Spring/Summer 2017 collections, Expo Riva Schuh has become a firm date in the international fair calendar.

We were the first to believe in a strategy of early timing – saysChairman of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, Roberto Pellegrini – and at the end of the day, this choice has turned out to be a winner. The fact that in the world of fashion and the accessory market alike, a broad debate has been opened regarding production timings and the presentation of new collections, confirms the importance of the time factor.”

In fact, at the inauguration of Expo Riva Schuh, scheduled for Saturday 11th June at 11:00, the opening debate will cover the matter of timing and the ratio between the number of collections, timescales and the creative process. "The on-going changes in fashion timescales” is the main theme of the meeting which, thanks to the participation Marc Sondermann, director of FASHION magazine, Enrico Cietta, senior partner at Diomedea, Roberto Pellegrini and Giovanni Laezza, respectively Chairman and Managing Director of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, will aim to analyse the motivation behind this re-think regarding fashion timing and to discover whether a contrast between quality and speed really exists.

“The matter of timing, in terms of the presentation of collections, is also a crucial issue for events such asExpo Riva Schuh– explains Giovanni Laezza, Managing Director of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi. From this point of view, our strategy has always been very clear and the early positioning of our fair has remained a constant over time. We have developed a fair with a clear identity, due not only to its timing in the fair calendar, but also because of the nature of the products that are presented here at the fair. We have chosen a particular route and stuck to it, and our efforts, in the long term, have been appreciated by both exhibitors and visitors, who continue to show their loyalty and believe in our fair.”

This edition of Expo Riva Schuh will see the presence of 1,438 exhibitors, 1,139 of whom come from abroad, occupying a total net space of 32,500m2. This confirms the international DNA of the event, which comprises important groups of companies from China, India, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Indonesia and Pakistan.

“Over the past few editions, we have been working with the ICE agency in order to involve visitors from world markets with the most attractive development potential – explains Carla Costa, Manager of the Fairs Unit ofRiva del Garda Fierecongressi.  For this edition, for example, we are getting ready to welcome several delegations of buyers from South America, (including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru) as well as from Europe, with representatives from Belgium and Sweden. We want to continue to open our doors to new markets in order to give companies the chance to widen their commercial horizons.”

As a style and trend workshop which enjoys a privileged overview of the global market situation, Expo Riva Schuh pays an increasing amount of attention to the social media aspect of the event, with numerous initiatives aimed at the world of social media and the presence of various Italian and International fashion bloggers, who will provide a “live” running commentary of the salient moments of the fair.
