A grand gesture of solidarity from China is heading for Riva del Garda in the form of 7,000 facemasks for the community, from the city of Xiamen, in the Fujian province, which will make a significant contribution towards ensuring that essential services can go ahead whilst protecting the population and those in the front line at this time of emergency. The donation comes from Mr Luo Xingping, chairman of the L&C (Xiamen) Group, the Chinese agency that has been working with Riva del Garda Fierecongressi for many years within the volume footwear event, Expo Riva Schuh.
Over the next few days, the municipality of Riva del Garda, with Riva del Garda Fierecongressi as the intermediary, will receive 2,000 Ffp3 protective devices and 5,000 surgical masks. Added to today’s delivery of 800 items, further deliveries are on their way, which will be handed over to the local authorities, who are already getting ready to distribute them to hospitals and local health services, to council employees and the local police.

Every form of help is of vital importance now, as is the effort to defy our invisible enemy which, unfortunately, has now reached our town. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those in the front line and urge our citizens once more not to go out of their homes unless it is strictly necessary to do so, and to rigorously observe the laws in force. This is the only way, with everybody’s commitment and with the required sense of personal and collective responsibility, that we can hope to return to normality as soon as possible.”
