Funding and concessions

Please note! The call for applications for funding and concessions valid for participation in international trade fairs in 2021, including Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags, has been temporarily suspended.

Until 31st December 2020, italian businesses can benefit from a non-repayable share of funding equal to 50% of the amount requested (under the "Temporary Framework"). This is one of the latest initiatives in terms of internationalisation loans that,   since  1991, SIMEST - a company of the CDP Group, has been using to support the growth and competitiveness of Italian companies that also operate abroad, disbursing the Public Fund 394/81 managed on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  and  International  Cooperation (MAECI).

Companies that request funding to access and compete within international markets can now obtain half of the requested sum as a non-repayable fund, i.e. without the obligation to repay. This new concession was made possible by the green light recently    obtained by the European Commission which extends the timescale of this benefit until the end of 2020, with a limit of 800 thousand euros in total funding aid.

Applications already sent that refer to the 40% non-repayable share of funding remain valid, so therefore, to take advantage of the new conditions, it is necessary to present a new application via the SIMEST Portal. The measure of the non-repayable  fund   at 50% is only the latest step in a progressive strengthening of the loans for internationalisation tool that started at the height of the Covid19 pandemic, and which provided for an unprecedented expansion of the SIMEST tools, both in terms   of  resources and range of action.

Through the introduction of subsequent regulatory interventions aimed at relieving the difficult economic situation, the availability of the public fund from which SIMEST draws liquidity to finance companies has been quadrupled. The obligation to  present   guarantees has been eliminated for 2020, the maximum amounts have been raised, the range of expenses that can be financed has been expanded, the number of companies that can access them has been enlarged and, above all, the operation of loans   has  also been extended to internationalisation projects in European Union countries.
